I have spent my career working in nonprofits, and currently serve as a Director of Development for the University of Iowa. I have always been passionate about bringing global perspective and dialogue to local issues, and am so proud of the work that the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council does in this space.

What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses? My role at the University Libraries is the Social Science and Public Policy Librarian. I work with several academic programs on campus including Global Health Studies, International Studies, Geographical & Sustainability Sciences, Political Science, and International Programs. I meet with students and faculty to help them with their research, teach class sessions on research skills and finding information, and purchase materials for the Libraries. I am also the Fulbright Librarian and help students with their extensive Fulbright applications. I enjoy engaging with the campus and community around international topics. Tell us a little about yourself. What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses? Retired Associate Director, Center for International and Comparative Studies at the University of Iowa. B.A. in International Relations with a minor in Asian Studies from the University of Southern California; M.A. in Foreign Affairs/Overseas Operations from the East West Center in Hawaii. Language and cultural studies at Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. My professional background is in Arts Administration and University Administration Tell us a little about yourself. What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses? I am a licensed pharmacist, and current PhD Candidate with a Health Services Research specialization, at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. I have been involved with international student-affiliated groups on campus such as the International Student Advisory Board and the International Student Committee of the Graduate Student Senate. As Secretary of the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB), an organization which advocates for the needs of international students in order to improve their experience, I worked with other members to raise awareness about the winter clothing needs of new international students through a winter clothing drive. In addition, as Chair of the International Student Committee of the Graduate Student Senate, I worked with other committee members to promote community-building among international graduate students by organizing the International Graduate Student Food and Cultural Festival. This cultural event brought together 75 people from 15 countries, including the United States, Nigeria, India, Costa Rica, Nepal, China, Spain, Sri Lanka, Serbia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Singapore, Venezuela, Albania, and Colombia Tell us a little about yourself. What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses? I am the Johnson County Attorney. While my work does not intersect a lot with the ICFRC issues a lot, we do deal with immigration issues as times. My personal back ground on international issues comes from being and hosting foreign exchange students and involvement with the international community in Iowa City. Tell us a little about yourself. What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses? My professional background was not involved with international issues. I was an Educational Consultant in UIHC Outpatient Clinics and the local schools focused on the diagnosis and management of developmental learning and behavior disorders with a specialization in reading disorders and dyslexia. |
