Tell us a little about yourself. What is your professional background and history working on the issues that ICFRC addresses?
I am a licensed pharmacist, and current PhD Candidate with a Health Services Research specialization, at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. I have been involved with international student-affiliated groups on campus such as the International Student Advisory Board and the International Student Committee of the Graduate Student Senate.
As Secretary of the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB), an organization which advocates for the needs of international students in order to improve their experience, I worked with other members to raise awareness about the winter clothing needs of new international students through a winter clothing drive.
In addition, as Chair of the International Student Committee of the Graduate Student Senate, I worked with other committee members to promote community-building among international graduate students by organizing the International Graduate Student Food and Cultural Festival. This cultural event brought together 75 people from 15 countries, including the United States, Nigeria, India, Costa Rica, Nepal, China, Spain, Sri Lanka, Serbia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Singapore, Venezuela, Albania, and Colombia
