Every semester, ICFRC brings expert speakers worldwide to Iowa City to discuss the most critical issues affecting our global community.
From individuals with lived experience to thought leaders from the top of their field, the diversity of voices and depth of content covers a lot of ground and invites listeners to consider and explore their place in the world and what they can do to make a difference.
University of Iowa students are launching the GLOCAL VOICES podcast (global and local) to provide commentary and analysis about what these topics mean from the perspective of their generation and how to make an impact within the context of fellow students' daily lives.
*Views expressed by our hosts are their own and representative of their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives of the issues explored.
MEET THE HOSTS!
"Hello! My name is Kennedy Lein, I am a Junior majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications as well as minoring in International Studies at The University of Iowa. I also am the social media marketing intern for the SJMC department! I became familiar with podcasting last year in my Multimedia Storytelling class and I am eager to get back into it at a wider angle! Global issues are also important to me for my minor and I am excited to gain more insight on being an international journalist! I’m excited to give you all a student view on international relations coming this fall!"
"I am a senior studying strategic communications through the Adler Journalism School with a minor in political science and a certificate in social science analytics. I am also the founder and Head Director of the Online News Association chapter at the University of Iowa, exploring international issues ranging from data rights to military conflicts in the Middle East. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career with the CIA as an analyst or work in political communications. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing video games and Dungeons & Dragons, and watching movies at FilmScene!"
